5 Questions For When Your Anxious

Ask yourself these 5 things next time you’re feeling anxious.

Am i dehydrated?

~ A lack of hydration causes heart palpitations. this sometimes trick the body into feeling anxious even though emotionally, we are feeling fine. aim for 2L of water a day to avoid this

Have i eaten enough?

~ Not enough fuel causes blood sugar levels to drop. this can cause symptoms such as heart palpitations, shakiness, nausea & headaches. if you’re overwhelmed or stress & don’t have much of an appetite, try eating smaller, more frequent meals a day

How did I sleep last night?

~ Sleep quality is so important when it comes to our mental health. If you are going to bed past 10pm, waking up throughout the night, unable to get back to sleep & snoozing your alarm in the AM, you are most likely going to feel crappy due to lack of repair/recovery overnight. try getting to bed before 10pm, avoid fluids 1 hr before bed to avoid a midnight wee & when you’re alarm goes off of a morning, get up straight away to stop snoozing. If you want to super boost your sleep, try magnesium

Am i worried about something?

Check in with yourself and ask yourself if there’s anything that you’re worried about. Is there an event coming up your nervous about? Work deadlines? Errands to do? Overwhelmed with life in general? Try journaling your thoughts & writing lists to organise and prioritise your days. **if you have been feeling worried/anxious most of the time over the last 4 weeks, it may be best to seek out some professional support

How much coffee & alcohol have i been consuming lately?

~ The coffee jitters: too much caffeine can cause a raise in blood pressure, heart palpitations & shakiness. if you’re someone who suffers with anxiety or has a caffeine sensitivity, it might be best to limit your consumption or avoid all together

~ Hangxiety: after having a few too many, your body goes into a withdrawal state the next day. this causes headaches, nausea, dizziness, increased heart rate & feelings of overwhelm and dread. its anxiety on steroids. avoid drinking in excess and ensure you eat and drink water while having a drink. if you suffer with anxiety, it might be best to consider avoiding it all together
